Designing a UI is like building a home. Some want the freedom of simplistic architecture. Others want a tree fort that is filled with their nik-naks and a ladder rope to climb up and down and play with.

There's nothing wrong with having either, but the former allows your visitors more access other than the personal preferences of a rope ladder. They can also navigate comfortable in the simple space of your home without being distracted and lost in personal nik-naks. A useful thing if they are only visiting you for a singular purpose.

Sid Lee Architecture understands this and has a beautiful website. Good Type too. Although it is made with Flash and therefore loads slower than a turtle without the proper ninja training.
